The Legacy Planning Process
Planning is the most important part of remodeling.
A beautiful remodel does not happen because construction starts. It happens because planning was done right long before demolition ever begins.
The Better We Plan, the Better Your Remodeling Experience Will Be
While many contractors begin construction after a rough estimate, we invest heavily in design, budgeting, material selections, scheduling, and logistics before a single wall is opened.
- Fewer surprises
- Better communication
- More accurate pricing
- Faster decision-making
- A smoother construction experience
Six Steps. One Coordinated Experience.

Planning Process FAQs
Why does the planning phase take several weeks?
Remodeling involves many connected decisions. Taking time to coordinate design, scope, engineering, pricing, selections, scheduling, and permits before construction creates a more predictable experience later.
Why do you not provide an estimate immediately?
A quick estimate is based on assumptions. We first learn the goals, document the project, develop the design, and coordinate the major selections so the proposal reflects the work you actually want completed.
What is included in preconstruction planning?
Planning may include construction documents, scope development, measurements, specifications, budgeting, material selections, trade coordination, scheduling, permits, and client preparation.
How accurate is your proposal?
Our planning-first process is designed to reduce unknowns and build a detailed budget before construction. Changes to the agreed scope or genuinely concealed conditions can still affect cost.
Can I make changes during construction?
Yes, but changes can affect cost and schedule. Whenever possible, decisions are made during planning so construction can move forward efficiently.
When are products selected?
Major products and materials are selected and coordinated before construction, including long-lead items that may affect the schedule.
What happens if unexpected issues are found?
We explain the condition, discuss the available options, document any scope or price change, and obtain approval before proceeding.
How are change orders handled?
Changes are documented clearly, including their effect on scope, price, and timeline, so you can make an informed decision.
When are permits obtained?
Required permits are coordinated during preconstruction and scheduled in relation to the planned construction start.
How often will I receive updates?
During construction, clients receive regular communication, including weekly updates every Tuesday and Friday. We also provide timeline tracking, progress photos, and answers from the project team.
Great Remodeling Begins With Planning
Every successful project is built on thousands of small decisions made before construction ever starts. We give those decisions the same attention as the craftsmanship that follows, so your experience is smoother, more predictable, and more enjoyable from start to finish.
When you are ready to remodel with confidence, we are ready to help you plan it the right way.
